AV-SAFETY TRAINING

1945 AT-6D Texan

The North American TopGun Av-Safety Program is designed to provide specific upset and stall/spin and safety training to operators of the following types of aircraft:

Corporate Turbo-props and Turbo-jets
Part 121 and 135 Transports
Military Warbirds

DESCRIPTION OF OUR AVIATION SAFETY TRAINING PROGRAMS

The flying qualities of the Texan provide upsets, stall breaks and spin entries that are similar to those encountered in larger business type aircraft having higher wing loadings and asymmetrical pitch and yaw on departures. The flight exercises provide exposure, recognition and transferable positive reaction patterns.

Objectives of this program are to recognize, avoid and recover from:

1. Stall/Spin
2. Upset/Accelerated Stall
3. Wake Turbulence
4. Unusual Attitudes
5. Collision Avoidance

The NATG Av-Safety Program consists of three phases:

I. Ground Training
II. Demonstration (in-flight simulated emergency encounters)
III. Practical Training (in-flight training & practice)
Three Plane Formation Stacked Echelon Left

The Standard Program begins with ground school and cockpit familiarization. Two flights are made.

The first flight deals with basic aircraft handling, advanced coordination maneuvers, attitude and reference training, stalls, spin entries and recoveries and unusual attitude recoveries.

The second flight provides actual wake turbulence investigation. A formation flight allows pilots to get experience with real wake turbulence and wing-tip vortices during in-trail and crossing encounters with your flight leader. Avoidance and recovery techniques are taught. Additionally traffic scan and collision avoidance techniques are practiced.
